The institution was established in April 1988 at 74 Harley Street Rawalpindi by Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq (Aizaz-e-Fazeelat), a dedicated and committed teacher with enthusiasm and missionary spirit in the field of education. She took the challenge of introducing modern Methodology of Montessori System. In the formative years, she introduced the International Montessori Method of education. Roots became the pioneer institution in having introduced an exclusive Montessori in the twin cities of Rawalpindi & Islamabad in 1988 and brought awareness about this method of teaching in Pakistan. The growth of children in this institution is the success of the “Teaching Methodology, Curriculum, faculty & Creativity”. The phenomenal success and growth behind the institution are now credited to her son Dr. Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) who has now founded The Millennium Education.

Ma’am Safia Farooqi’s unbreakable spirit, professional demeanour, academic resilience and moral courage in the face of education, defines who she was. Despite multiple challenges, she lived her life to the fullest – with smile, laughter, passion and a relentless sense of purpose, identity and resolve.

Ma’am Safia Farooqi has inspired, shaped, mentored and impacted a whole generation of millennial learners and teachers for over 30years, where many of her students and teachers are successfully contributing in all spheres of life, citizenship and society. She never wavered from her principles regardless of the circumstances, always ready to stand for social change and empowerment, a cause she believed in.

Her legacy remains of enduring value to education fraternity, communities she served and our country. A salute to a colleague who has left us on 23rd March 2020. We will live her legacy and she will always be remembered, cherished and celebrated.
