WWF Pakistan is running a Green School Certification model, with the objective to engage students and teachers of private and government schools in a structured Annual Awareness Programme to foster a sense of individual responsibility and accountability in future generations of Pakistan towards nature conservation. RMS has signed a legal agreement with the WWF in order to promote environmental education and awareness all across the campuses nationwide. Students studying in Millennium Schools all across are Green Students. The Green School Programme at RMS plays an important role in ensuring the future sustainability of environmental resources of Pakistan, by bringing a positive change in the attitude of Pakistan’s young people and helps in promoting a more mature, environmentally conscious generation.


The Programme at RMS is planned for the whole year to give students regular insight into the eco-dynamics, and the overall environmental challenges faced at global and regional level; to broaden student’s scope as a responsible custodian of valuable natural resources, and to consequently instill civic responsibility in them.

The objectives of the Programme are to

  2. Broaden students’ scope as a responsible custodian of valuable natural resources.
  3. Inculcate and foster civic responsibility in students.
  4. Give opportunity to students to become an official Ambassador of WWF Pakistan and solicit support of their parents and families membership for conservation of natural resources of Pakistan.

  6. Inculcate a habit of giving.Through this network, RMS expands upon mutual opportunities to learn and implement new and better ways to conserve and serve the environment. We have global vision when it comes to conservation, but we hold true to local perspective and needs while accomplishing our work.

Millennium Schools Approach

Millennium Roots and Intel Teacher Training Initiatives

The management of Roots Millennium Schools ensures that every student has access to a computer and all new teachers joining the school receive training on Intel Teach Programme Courses to prepare them to participate in the updated teaching methodologies of the school. Through the Intel Education Initiative, Intel Pakistan conducted a number of trainings at Millennium Roots Schools including the Intel Teach EssentialsThinking with TechnologyIntel Teach Getting Started, and Intel Teach Skills for Success courses for teachers, as well as several Principals Hands-on workshops for the benefit of the administrators. These courses enabled the teachers to develop student centered learning and project-based approaches which integrated technology in the learning environment.   The partnership has delivered a robust education transformation process across all the grades in all the campuses under the system. 15,000 students from Grade 1 to Grade 7 are using Intel and Roots Intel Teach Skills for Success course content on an annual basis.

RMS Information & Communication Technology ICT has tremendous potential to contribute to knowledge dissemination, effective learning, and the development of more efficient education services. Today’s teachers at RMS are prepared to provide technology-supported learning opportunities to their students in order to deliver the skills required by the modern knowledge economy. Technology is capable of transforming the classroom environment and has distinct advantages that enhance the teaching and learning process. Application and digital technologies enhancement in education has always been placed as top priority by the Millennium Schools. The process of RMS digital technologies utilization in education may lead to the country’s education reform and revamp in near future to transform the Pakistani citizen into knowledge society and a developed country. The RMS’s initiative in constructing, supplying and commissioning of ICT laboratory in all schools throughout the country and sponsoring e-learning portal and platforms that will enable students and teachers in the country to access and acquire knowledge. At RMS, within the web-enabled environment, individuals can access learning materials, courses, individual topics and performance support resources at any time, from anywhere centralized centers of office, at home or while traveling. Standard web browsers offer a consistent and seamless user interface across a wide variety of workstation platforms and networks. To effectively manage the students’ and teachers’ lifelong, RMS has launched Learning Management System which serves the regional collaborative learning centers for teachers, students and parents through e-learning platform and plays a double role not only as teaching and guidance staff but also as administrator of the learning portal. In order to achieve the targeted success, a series of benchmarks for ensuring e-learning quality and evaluating programme effectiveness has been set. The significant difference between the school teachers’ academic achievement, and work experiences is the usage of ICT and Internet. ICT laboratories in schools throughout RMS are jointly connected through a common, combined effort and standard Learning Management System (LMS) in the dissemination of knowledge not only for students but also for teachers in the RMS by setting up a standardized ICT and teachers’ collaborative lifelong learning portal. A supervisory panel has been set up at the head office level to supervise the implementation of the teachers’ collaborative lifelong learning centers to synchronize the policies and procedures of disseminations of knowledge towards the school teachers in the processes of transforming and building the capacity of our future generation “Millennials”.

At RMS, Digital learning puts students in a position to retrieve information, to take a look at learning programmes whenever they wish, to amend and to manipulate teaching texts, to try out something new and to reverse incorrect decisions. RMS Networks offer even greater opportunities and chances for autonomous learning, for example, the World Wide Web. The rapid availability of information encourages students to search for things that interest them and to find them. RMS Teaching programmed courses in digital learning environments aims among other things, at the following student interactions: Answering questions and reacting to feedback as in programmed teaching, Selecting and working through prescribed links, Participating in a simulated tutorial dialogue, Opening a notes window for writing margin notes, Opening a comments window, Placing “bookmarks” to mark defined pages, Working with a search menu which can be opened by means of central terms in the text and Explorations with simulations of economic modelselectronic circuitsbiological systems, etc. Students can enter their own parameters and in this way acquire their own insights and knowledge.

Programmes dedicated to providing education to both high school and college students as well as upcoming entrepreneurs

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region. There are currently over 13,000 members and more than 2,500 charter members in 56 chapters across 13 countriesTiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, TiE’s focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs.

The objectives declared by both organizations reveal that the RMS and TiE Islamabad Chapter are pursuing similar interests. One of the common interests is the interest of harboring the nation’s young entrepreneurship spirit. Both organizations are pursuing the same interests and also, both have adapted similar strategic programs to attain their objectives, for instance: the Youth oriented programs run by both organizations. TiE Islamabad has developed a Youth Entrepreneurial Society that aims to help guide the youth in their pursued business ventures of tomorrow. Under the Program TiE is establishing Business Clubs in all institutions in Islamabad. RMS has many programs running that include similar objectives. With such jointly vested interests, TiE Islamabad and RMS have decided to form a collaboration to help bring out the maximum potential embodied by the Entrepreneurial Youth of Pakistan.

Entrepreneurship programmes at RMS are a lot of fun for all students but beyond the fun, they achieve very positive results. By learning how academic skills connect to real business opportunities and hopes for success, students are motivated to work harder in school. RMS Entrepreneurship programs also give wide scope to student creativity and energy and offer a positive way for students to channel their talents. Entrepreneurship education can positively impact a learner at all levels in a wide number of contexts. This may explain why there are such a wide variety of entrepreneurship education programs, all of which can provide important outcomes at various stages of a learner’s life.

Entrepreneurial education in RMS is not just about the motivations and skills needed to start-up a business or a new venture; it is also about nurturing the ability and willingness of individuals to create value for themselves, for others and for society. The idea of promoting entrepreneurship through education at RMS has spurred much enthusiasm in the last few years, as it is expected to produce a wide range of outcomes including individual development; increased school engagement and performance; enhanced courage to contribute to societal development; and improved equality. Other expected outcomes include job creation, economic growth and increased societal resilience.

RMS Entrepreneurship Club provides an environment where entrepreneurship is experienced and not only taught in classrooms. Here students work with real projects during the education and apply their knowledge, creativity and entrepreneurial ability in real settings. We at RMS combine internationally acknowledged academic education and research with real value creation in an entrepreneurial environment.

Pakistan Red Crescent & Roots Millennium Schools aim to nurture a sense of Social Responsibility & Community Work

Roots Millennium Schools and Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop, mobilize and train youth volunteers for Students and Staff of Roots Millennium Schools nationwide. Chief Executive RMS Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq TI and Dr. Mahboob Sardar Secretary General of PRCS agreed on cooperation of the Institutions in enhancing mutual interest and understanding along with development of Pakistan. The Community Involvement Programme at RMS in collaboration with PRCS provides students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities which contributes to the community. It aims to nurture a sense of social responsibility and help students understand that everyone can play a part in bettering the community.

Our aim is to encourage our students for long-term involvement in community service. PRCS has provided us proper structure, guidance and supervision so as to engage our students. To sustain volunteerism beyond the school years, we encourage all our campuses to forge long-term partnerships with community organizations like PRCS to deepen the quality of the volunteerism experience for our students and to allow for continuity of contribution beyond the schooling years. Numerous on going First Aid Training Courses are an integral part of Millennials PRCS Volunteerism Initiative which could make all the difference if an emergency happened in their doorstep. Volunteering at Millennium Schools complies with all capacities of the RMS Curriculum for Excellence helping young students to become successful learners, confident individuals, and effective contributors but it particularly develops responsible citizens.

Community, Action, Service and Social Integration at RMS works through the continuous community engagement. We at RMS ensure that every member of the community must know their rights and responsibilities in the local, national and global community, analyze an impact of globalization and trace its historical evolution, assess the agents of globalization, identify the concept of cultural diversity in global society, define the term conflict and identify various ways to resolve them, explain the term human rights, trace its historical evolution, describe the key features of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) that represent human beings as a global community, analyze the challenges of global community and identify the strategies to bridge the differences of global citizenship.

RMS has launched SCOPE-School Coaching Programme in collaboration with Abbas Husain, a name known nationally and internationally is the Director of a team of master trainers who work together to uplift the level of education in Pakistan. Abbas Husain along with his team has launched many new programs in RMS under the umbrella of his initiative SCOPE Community Engagement Program which not only helped teachers to become professionals but groomed them as leaders in their field. Abbas Husain is the Founder & Director of Teachers Development Centre & Founder Member of SPELT and a renowned Intellectual & Thinker as well. Abbas Husain is a moderator and speaker of RMS’s largest teacher development conference since from last 9 consecutive years. Under the SCOPE Community Engagement Program, Abbas Husain has delivered numerous thought provoking counseling & coaching session to the parental community of Roots Millennium Schools including the faculty and staff. Abbas Husain addressed the community on a thought provoking session on ‘Factors affecting self-esteem and self-confidence amongst students’. This session was organized to help mothers with the challenges they face while dealing with the young students. After all, many factors outside a student’s control can influence his or her performance. This session stated the strategies that how mothers can engage their child in self-motivated activities. RMS believes in providing excellent learning opportunities not only to students and teachers but also to the whole community. This programme is giving benefits in terms of awareness, clarity of idea and motivation to the community engaged in these sessions and orientation, which are highly interactive. Parents & community are being briefed on topic like ‘Early intervention in childhood’, ‘What schools do and what schools should do’, ‘Industrial age assumptions about school’, ‘The boundaries of impact on schools’, ‘Work life balance’, ‘Handling difficult students’ and many more topics which are directly linked to the on ground realities of human life. At RMS, we realize the strong need to enrich and educate the community about sustainable development, restoring natural environment, adopting healthy lifestyles, providing services and access to quality education and reducing poverty. In view of our vision towards the community engagement program, SCOPE is benefiting our society at large and will continue doing this.

Provides opportunities for students to integrate classroom learning into experiences outside the classroom through an extensive range of hands-on experiential learning

Teaching of today aims learning beyond the classroom. Roots Millennium School launched different education and innovative campaign like Bird Awareness School CampaignOral Health Awareness Campaign and Road Safety Campaign. RMS is conscious that children and the youth are our first and foremost stakeholders for a sustainable future. Every child’s life is precious and it is the duty of all adults to protect children and keep them safe. To ensure that children and adolescents receive road safety education, Roots Millennium School initiated a Road Safety Education Program across its various campuses nationwide. The students were trained on the various aspects of Road Safety through the Active Learning Method which was instructor led and involved role plays, skits, discussion poster and case studies.

By this method of imparting knowledge, RMS aims to create maximum impact among the students. Roots Millennium Schools launched an educational and innovative campaign about “The Birds of Pakistan’ to boost up pupil’s knowledge and to develop the horizons of information for the years to come. Birds are not only one of the most successful eye-catching groups in the animal kingdom but they also hold the key to our understanding of the natural world. Millennium Schools has sustained its tradition of taking initiative for developing social and environmental awareness among its students.

Oral health is an indicator of General health. The importance of Dental hygiene is most importantly instilled during childhood. This was the theme of Millennium Schools Oral Health Awareness Campaign. It aimed towards providing basic information on tooth health which will help develop in the children, appropriate to their age and experience, a sense of competence and responsibility for keeping their teeth clean and healthy. Oral health conditions are proven to be the number one chronic disease among children. School, being the most apt arena for inculcation of oral hygiene, can play a critical role in preventing dental problems, 80 percent of which are preventable because they are rooted in share neglect of oral hygiene.

“Milk matters for Kids” is another beyond the classroom initiative at RMS. It is without doubt that milk is an important component of our diet. The importance of milk is most effectively encouraged during childhood. Millennium Schools took this initiative to hold a program beyond the classrooms based on Milk Genomics & Human Health. Activities based on importance of milk were specifically planned for different grades. RMS has initiated join awareness campaigns with the world renowned development sector organization to equip the children with knowledge and care for the environment.

At Millennium Schools, Learning outside the classroom and its impact on child development has found wide-ranging benefits for our students.
