The Millennium Education is home to one of the best German Language school in Islamabad. TME and Goethe Institute Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding –“Schools: Partners for the future”; its goal is to build up a network to awaken learners’  interest and enthusiasm for modern-day Germany and the German society. It is coordinated by the Federal Foreign Office and implemented in cooperation with the Central Agency for School Abroad, the Goethe-Institute, the Education Exchange Service of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education, and Cultural Affairs of the Lander in the Federal Republic of Germany, and the German Academic Exchange Service.

The partnership has played a vital role in enabling TME to broaden its students’ horizons and to open a brand new world for them to explore.

Roots Millennium School offers one of the best German language course in Pakistan and our  initiative will thus extend students’ skills, preparing them for their studies in Germany and subsequent careers. The number of full grants for study in Germany is to be doubled for graduates of the Partner School.

The management of TME is confident that this partnership will provide its Millennials the opportunity to build an early bond with the German Culture and to familiarise themselves with the German education system by participating in integrated German lessons in the TME schools. Such fostered intercultural dialogue offers new perspective to the young generation and enables them to present themselves as responsible players in the globalised world.

About Goethe Institute

RMS is one of the First Pasch-Schools in Pakistan and is affiliated with Goethe institute Karachi. PASCH stands for the “Schools: Partners for the Future” initiative. It is a global network of some 1,800 schools that place a high value on German. PASCH is an initiative of the Federal Foreign Office in cooperation with the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA), the Goethe-Institute (GI), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Educational Exchange Service of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Goethe Institute is a non-profit German Cultural association operating 159 institutes worldwide, promoting German Language abroad and offering German Language courses at the Goethe Institute Pakistan. It’s goal is to promote the knowledge of the German Language and foster International cultural cooperation. The teaching concept at Goethe Institute are varied and communicative. Speaking, listening, reading and writing are practiced in situations based on real life and authentic text. Whatever plans you may have for the future knowledge of German will increase your options. When you learn German you acquire a range of skills which can improve the quality of both your work and life.

At Goethe Institute one can learn German from a beginner level to an advanced level through the progressively structured advanced courses. The qualified teachers use communicative teaching methods to prepare the students for the upcoming stay in Germany. Cultural and Societal information are also given during the lessons in order to ease communication with Germans. The State of the art classrooms are equipped with multi touch display screens. You can also record your language skills by taking an internationally certified Goethe Institute Examination. The Institute has developed a series of exams for the learners of German Language at all levels.

Goethe Institute Examination are well known throughout the world and the associated certificates are accepted as a qualification by employers and further education institutions in many countries. After taking the Goethe International Examination the Child is able to assess his/her own knowledge of the Language correctly. This is a recognized certificate and is accredited worldwide. This International certification enables the child to avail scholarship programs in Germany as Germany offers scholarship to students learning German Language. This initiative has extended students skills in preparing them for Study in Germany and to pursue a subsequent career. A good knowledge of German is valued throughout the world and the associated certificate makes it even more valuable. Goethe Institute’s German Language Program corresponds to the levels of common European framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and range from A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. Every year students appearing for the A-1 level exam are offered fully funded.

This initiative, “Schools: Partners for the future”, provides students from different country and community with the opportunity to build up a strong bond and to familiarize.German Language is offered in 13 major cities across 28 different RMS campuses at Islamabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Nowshera, Mardan, Attock Kamra, Sargodha, Mirpur, Jhelum, Karachi, Lahore & Peshawar. Currently more than 3000 students are learning German Language and more than 500 Students have attained 100% pass percentage in FIT-1, FIT-2 and B1 examination conducted by examiners of Goethe Institute.

The Partnership Collaboration and Exchange Program fosters long term connections and working relationships to promote enhanced international relations, joint research efforts and continued information exchange. It aims to establish a global network of 2000 schools dedicated to offer their students the best possible education.

The Partnership within the framework of its curriculum offer, promote and encourage the teaching of German, encourage German Teachers to participate in training programmes both locally and abroad, allow students to participate in youth camps and students exchanges. It also assists Partner Schools in implementing the German curriculum, trains and advise the German Language teachers on regular basis and offer German teachers and the best students of German to attend Language courses in Germany.

Students are offered International examinations where they get accredited certification that is recognized worldwide. The PASCH initiative (“Schools: Partners for the Future“) is a global network of more than 2000 schools that maintains a close relationship to both, Germany and German language.  The Goethe-Institute supports the Millennium Education students in providing different youth camp, Workshops and engage students in cultural activities.

In addition scholarships for pursuing a course of study in Germany and opportunities for school exchanges and twinning programmes are made available through the collaboration and partnerships.

German Language Teaching Framework

German Language Teaching Framework at Middle Years: Grade 6, 7 and 8  

German language is offered at RMS as part of curriculum in the Middle Years. Students study the first level of the language framework which is FIT-1. This level is taught over a period of two years and take their first exam of FIT-1 at the end of the second year. The exams are conducted by the Goethe Institute examiners.

The German Language Textbooks and the resource material that is being used at Roots Millennium Schools have been prescribed by Goethe Institute. The textbooks prescribed by Goethe Institute starts from the basic and gradually scaffolds the learning process of the child. The German Language course and Syllabus taught at Roots Millennium Schools is also prescribed by Goethe Institute and is offered as part of the curriculum in Middle Years. The Goethe Institute German Language Examination corresponds to the levels of the Common European framework of Reference for Languages and range from A-1 for beginners and C-2 for Language skills at the highest level. The beginner’s level known as A-1 is taught in grade 6 and grade 7.  This A-1 level that is taught in middle years is generally known as Fit-1 and is thus taught over a period of two years. At the end of the second year the child is prepared to sit in the Fit-1 Exam of Goethe Institute. The German Language course helps to develop listening, speaking reading and writing of students. The Textbook with 16 lessons is divided into 8 lessons over two academic years.

German Language offered at Upper Middle Years and College Years:  IGCSE and A Levels.  

German language offered as an optional subject to the IGCSE, AS and A2 students. The German Teachers take extra lessons for the IGCSE students apart from their scheduled lessons and prepare the students for the International German Language Exam in one Year. IGCSE students can be prepared to take the International Goethe German Language Exam after one academic year with 4 lessons per week which are managed during the school hours. Students of AS and A level are taught A-1 in one year hence students can take their A-1 level and B-1 Level exams accordingly. German is taught through various innovative and creative techniques to make the learning fun and activity based.  After A-level with German Language B-2 certification students can apply for scholarship in Germany.

German language classrooms are well equipped with the soft boards, interactive white boards, learners’ charts, German books, tablets & laptops for teachers and learners, multimedia, balls, dice, sound system for listening and other useful material for different activities to develop students’ interest in learning the language. We are constantly developing new digital platforms to make the classrooms interactive for learners. They include mobile apps, games, social media and platform-specific components of language courses. Currently 2500 language students use the interactive learning platforms. Learners of German can access Goethe-Institute web site all over the world for the digital community.

Goethe Institute International Examination at The Millennium Education

This is a recognized certification which enables the students to apply for scholarship study programs in Germany. the Students can appear for the first German Language International Examination in grade 7.

It takes one academic year for the IGCSE students to prepare for the first International Exam.

Goethe Institute’s German Language Program corresponds to the levels of common European framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and range from A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.

German International Exam A-1

A student when reaches A-1 level can understand everyday expressions and very simple sentences, which relate to the satisfying needs of the learners. A learner with A-1 level can introduce him/herself and can initiate basic conversation. They can communicate in a simple manner and can help willingly.

Students sit in their first International German Language Exam of A-1 (Fit-I) in grade 7. The Goethe International Exam is every year held in April. The German International Exam is accredited with international certification from Goethe Institute.

German International Exam A-2

A student when reaches A-2 level can understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with topics directly related to his/her direct circumstances (e.g. personal information or information about his/her family, shopping, work, immediate surroundings). Can make him/herself understood in simple, routine situations dealing with a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and common topics. Can describe his/her background and education, immediate surroundings and other things associated with immediate needs in a simple way.

Students sit in their first International German Language Exam of A-2 ( Fit -2) in grade 8. The Goethe International Exam is held in April. The German International Exam is accredited with international certification from Goethe Institute.

 German International Exam B-1  

A student when reaches the B-1 level can understand the language. He can understand basic language is used and can familiarize topics associated with work, school, leisure time, etc. Can deal with most situations typically encountered when travelling in the language region. Can express him/herself simply and coherently regarding familiar topics and areas of personal interest. Can report on experiences and events, describe dreams, hopes and goals as well as make short statements to justify or explain his/her own views and plans.

Students sit in their first International German Language Exam of B-1 after passing the A-2 Exam. The Goethe International Exam is every year held in April. The German International Exam is accredited with international certification from Goethe Institute.

B2 Level of German Language

A student with B-2 level can understand the main contents of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics; also understands specialized discussions in his/her own primary area of specialization. Can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is easily possible without a great deal of effort on either side. Can express him/herself on a wide range of topics in a clear and detailed manner, explain his/her position on a current issue and indicate the benefits and drawbacks of various options.

Students sit in their first International German Language Exam of B-2 after passing the B-1 Exam. The Goethe International Exam is every year held in April. The German International Exam is accredited with international certification from Goethe Institute.

German International Exam Registration Process

German International Examination registration starts in early January and students submit their registration forms before the deadline by the end of February.  Generally, German Language International Examination is held in April. Outstanding examinees have the opportunity of availing fully funded scholarships in Germany organized by Goethe Institute.

  1. German International Examination registration form must be duly filled out by the parent in capital letters.
  2. First name and surname name of the child must be as per the first name and surname name in the passport.
  3. Date of birth and place of birth must be clearly mentioned.
  4. CNIC copy of the parent either father or mother to be attached with the registration form. (Clear copy of CNIC to be attached)
  5. Put a tick in the right box for the German Language Exam level your child is appearing for.
  6. Amount for the German exam as per the level should be submitted to the School Administration.
  7. Attach your passport picture.
  8. Attach your passport copy.
