We Stand, They Poll and We Win – Online Student Council Elections for Academic Year 2020-21

We at TME, Oxbridge Campus believe democracy must prevail at all levels. The student voice must be heard and heeded. From the moment Student Council Elections 2020-21 were announced, the air was abuzz with excitement. All nominees were charged up. They designed their own banners and badges. They campaigned enthusiastically and were waiting for Hour Zero to arrive.

Keeping the prevailing situation of COVID-19 in mind we developed an Online Voting System where students could cast their votes online and remotely. The first online vote was cast by our worthy Ma’am Sabby and Madam Erum. Learners were bought to the Balloting Area in groups of 10 and the first thing they did was sanitize their hands. Two on-duty teachers were there to guide the students and monitor the voting process.  Students cast their votes safely through MS Forms while observing all SOPs. Their excitement was evident as they mastered the new normal. It was a new experience for them and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

The COVID-19 global health crisis has been a time to reflect on things we truly cherish and our most basic needs. These uncertain times have made many of us rekindle our appreciation for a thing that some take for granted and many go without: food.

Food is the essence of life and the bedrock of our cultures and communities. Preserving access to safe and nutritious food is and will continue to be an essential part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for poor and vulnerable communities, who are hit hardest by the pandemic and resulting economic shocks.

Young Millennials were excited to share their ideas with their fellows on the importance of healthy and junk food and significance of what should be in the plate.
